L@s GANAS supports Latinx students interested in pursuing a STEM career navigate higher education from pre-enrollment to graduation. It is designed to improve their academic and non-cognitive outcomes. We consider the whole person and take a culturally relevant approach to achieving success. L@s GANAS offers a robust framework of supports including an undergraduate research experience and culturally relevant programming. We celebrate the individual and introduce them to multiple communities within and outside UIC. The students we work with get a strong sense that they belong in the larger STEM community, and that their Latinx heritage and culture are an asset to the STEM fields.
