At Mile Square Health Center, our mission is to provide the highest level of care in a convenient, accessible location, so people can stay healthy through every stage of life. We provide care to anyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay.

Your contribution this Giving Tuesday will help us ensure that all members of our community – from newborn to elderly – can access the primary, preventive, specialty, and urgent care they need.

Central to our mission is the work we do within the communities we serve. We participate in and host community health and resource events – such as back-to-school fairs and senior events – where we provide essential information, resources, and access to care. We maintain strong relationships with community partners, who refer those in need of care to our clinics and programs.

Mile Square opened its first neighborhood clinic in 1967. More than half a century later, we continue to expand our offerings to address unmet healthcare needs. Like our Community Maternal Health Care (CMHC) Program, developed in response to the Black maternal mortality crisis in Chicago. In recent years, access to essential maternal and infant care services on Chicago’s Southside has drastically decreased, creating a “maternal healthcare desert.” This has resulted in disproportionately negative health outcomes for Black women and their families. The CMHC Program offers a community-based, culturally adapted model of care that includes prenatal and postpartum care; referrals for dental and behavioral healthcare services; and a range of holistic services including midwifery, nutrition counseling, case management, and doula support. The program also hosts educational baby showers, providing mothers with essential supplies, access to local resources, and community support.
