Latino Cultural Center’s 50th Birthday Celebration

The UIC Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center (LCC/Latino Cultural Center) was established as the first cultural center at the University of Illinois Chicago in 1976. The LCC emerged thanks to visionary Latine students, faculty, staff, and community members, who fought tirelessly for a cultural center to support the academic growth of the increasing Latine student population on campus.

For the past 50 years, the LCC has served as a reservoir of cultural knowledge, artistic practice, and campus advocacy, supporting the academic, professional, and personal growth of our students through engaged co-curricular opportunities that center Latine experiences and recognize diversity as an asset for collective action.
